Pauline Madden

Pauline Madden attended Lewisham college in 1993 where she completed a 2-year jazz-based music course as a vocalist. She has studied drums and percussion which she started playing in 1990, as well as the M’bira (Zimbabwean thumb piano), piano, keyboards and jazz theory. In addition to singing and playing, Pauline has also written music for theatre projects, vocal ensembles, for shows and as part of her own repertoire.

Pauline has performed widely as a vocalist, backing singer, drummer and percussionist at the Barbican, Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and on Radio London in the UK, as well as in Europe with international artists including Bobby McFerrin, Ian Shaw and Ashley Maher. She has supported artists and groups including Tony Allen and Zap Mama. She is the founder member of the six-piece percussion band Cascada and co-founder of Drumhead. She has successfully taught drumming and percussion for over twenty-five years. Pauline also teaches gardening in schools and is a writer.
