We are an arts-based charity offering:
Multiple large-scale projects at Eastwood Park Women’s Prison (EWP) on main location & the therapeutic Nexus Unit, Eden House Approved Premise, Refugee Women of Bristol (RWOB), Nelson Trust, Mens approved premises and recent collaborations with HMP SEND, Bristol Mind, Active Recovery and Barnado’s. Vital Beats works with two all female bands. Bristol based Tolo Ko Tolo and London based Cascada.

KIRBY - CEO & FOUNDER
Kirby founded Vital Beats in 2015 by taking her percussive knowledge and facilitative expertise into the Therapeutic wing of HMP Eastwood Park Women’s Prison. Her passion still lies in the delivery of creative somatic and healing experiences to help support those with multiple disadvantages.
Her role as CEO oversees all communications, finance, project management, operations, fund writing, report writing, strategy, relationship building, decision making and general admin.

CHLOË - DIRECTOR & CO-FOUNDER
Chloë co-founded Vital Beats CIO in 2022 and has been working alongside Kirby delivering sessions for the past 10 years. Chloë brings her therapeutic vocal expertise into the work. Her infectious love of song and sound making permeate the environment. She draws out the voices of participants from all walks of life with her empathic, relaxed approach.
Her role as Director involves safeguarding, in prison security, policy updates, social media marketing, project co-ordination, strategic planning, relationship building, decision making and networking.

Penny is a Vital Beats Dance Practitioner & NEW group facilitator.
Penny is now offering monthly Vital Beats dance classes with live drums at HMP Eastwood Park to those on the therapeutic wing and main location.
She teams up with Kenzi to hold Vital Beats sessions at Nelson Trust Women’s centre, Bristol.
She’s a Dancer, Choreographer & Movement Director running her own company - Freedom Soul Dance.
Penny produces an intoxicating mix of styles rooted in West African, contemporary & freestyle dance for the mind body & soul.
Penny brings a vast and deep knowledge of the impact of dance and its connection to wellbeing & expression of self, joyous movement & energy.
Penny is continuously told that she is ‘pure sunshine’ The Women in prison just love her, so she is back by popular demand!

Kenzi
Kenzi is a Vital Beats NEW group facilitator.
Kenzi is a gifted dance artist and works alongside Penny to deliver sessions at Nelson Trust Womens centre Bristol. Kenzi & Penny both received VB training earlier this year and are embarking on sessions over the summer.
Kenzi is an empowering teacher and an inspiring performer, delivering high quality dance experiences, her enthusiasm and passion for dance is infectious. Drawing from the strengths and diversity of African dance forms, her work aims to inspire true and honest expression and to celebrate and enrich our appreciation of dance of the African Diaspora.
Her musicality, depth and experience working in the mental health sector all enrich her ability to co-deliver inspiring sessions.
