Kenzi Ireland

Welcome to our NEW Vital Beats staff member - Kenzi Ireland. Kenzi is an experienced dance artist, specialising in African dance forms with over 16 years experience as a professional performer, choreographer and teacher. Kenzi has trained and performed with companies and professional dance practitioners from around the globe and performed across the UK, Wales and Europe for 10 years with Nimba African Dance & Music.

Kenzi’s professional dance training began at a young age as a Junior Associate of the Birmingham Royal Ballet and later as a pupil of the London Royal Ballet Lower school. In 2013 Kenzi graduated from Middlesex University with a BA Honours Degree in Contemporary Dance Performance and was awarded the Trailblazers Starter Fellowship Scheme with Dance of the African Diaspora (DAD), to travel to ‘Ecole des Sables’ in Senegal, for a six-week professional training course in African and contemporary African dance. In 2019 Kenzi was awarded funding through the Arts Council England to develop her practice further, which enabled her to travel to New York and Ghana to access high quality Afrodance training.

Kenzi teaches weekly community dance and dance fitness classes and works as an artist in residence in schools to deliver performance projects, curriculum support and after school programs. Kenzi delivers high quality dance experiences within schools, higher education, international schools, community events, community charities and companies, festivals including Womad, Shambala and Tribe of Doris, within mental health services, youth organisations and prisons.
